Worcester here in the UK is twinned with Worcester Massachusetts U.S.A. As long ago as 1945 a silver chalice dating from 1571 was presented to All Saints Church, Worcester, Mass. by Worcester, England as an expression of gratitude for wartime assistance. It is only since 1999 though that the two Worcesters have been officially linked. Regular exchange visits have take place between various organisations of the two cities and many friendships have developed through these exchanges. Situated in New England with a population of approximately 169,000 and just 45 miles from the historic town of Boston, Worcester is both a commercial and industrial centre.
