Jemma Pixie Hixon - Worcestershire's New Singing Sensation

Last year the singer from Malvern that everyone was talking about was Cher Lloyd who rocketed into the news headlines when she became an X factor favourite in 2010.

 

Now Cher has been joined by Jemma Pixie Hixon as the latest singing sensation to be discovered in Worcestershire.

 

Unlike Cher though Jemma has not entered into the world of celebrity by entering a reality Tv or talent show. Instead the beautiful and talented singer songwriter is growing in popularity through the power of the internet.

 

Jemma who sings covers of popular stars such as Rhianna & Cheryl Cole does so from the comfort of her own home. With a make shift studio in her bedroom Jemma records and produces her own videos using a webcam with a cardioid condenser microphone  and has been uploading the finished songs to youtube.

 

It is via youtube that Jemma has suddenly caused such a stir, her videos have now been viewed millions of times and last month one of her videos was the most watched video in China. "Love the Way you Lie" sung by Jemma Hixon has had over 6million views! She has a growing fan club in not only China but in Japan and across the world.

 

Jemma's success is made all the more amazing by the fact that she has been left housebound for over two years due to suffering daily anxiety attacks brought on from severe agoraphobia, a condition that Jemma has battled with since she was 6 years old.

 

Jemma's agrophobia is what makes her story so amazing and interesting but as Jemma puts it "It doesn't define me, it's just something I'm going through." Her singing is still sensational and although Jemma has said that to her it is just a hobby and that she is not seeking fame or fortune and that "I am not a craze, wannabe famous, type of girl" she has admitted that she would one day like to be a recording artist.

Despite seeing many psychologists and hypnotherapists as yet with no breakthrough for her condition Jemma remains positive that one day she will be cured and looks forward to living a normal life and being a "normal girl". Until then Jemma Hixon looks set to continue her growth in online popularity from her bedroom in her families six-bedroom detached home in Malvern Worcestershire where she lives with her parents Tonia, 50, and Mark, 49.
