Royal Worcester Pottery - Royal Wedding Collection

Royal Worcester Pottery has launched a Royal Wedding Collection to commemorate the wedding of HRH Prince William to Kate Middleton on April 29th 2011 in Westminster Abbey.

The Royal Wedding Collection for Royal Worcester was designed by one of Britain's leading ceramic designers, William Edwards. Edwards a graduate from the Royal College of Art in London now runs a successful design, print and decorating business and has his own factory in Stoke on Trent.  The Staffordshire pottery group Portmeirion who now own the Royal Worcester brand name commissioned Edwards to produce the commemorative, Fine bone china, Royal Wedding Collection.

It is hoped that the Royal Wedding Collection will be a big money spinner for Royal Worcester and the portmeiron group as it is predicted that Sales of Royal Wedding merchandise may net more than £26m in the UK!

The Portmeiron group has already seen an increase in their share prices since the announcement of the Royal engagement back on the 16th November 2010. The Royal Wedding is expected to significantly boost the UK economy in April with pottery companies being just some of those expected to benefit.

The Royal Wedding Collection from Royal Worcester has been tastefully designed, hand painted and banded with 22 Carat gold. The Commemorative Collection of tableware consists of 8 Pieces ranging in price from £15 for a mug up to £400 for a limited edition Lion Head Vase.

The Official Royal Wedding China that will be on sale in official royal souvenir shops and at the Royal Palaces does not have pictures of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on it & has been produced by Royal Crown Derby. The Palace was determined that any Royal Wedding Memorabilia should be in good taste and issued strict guidelines for the production of Royal Wedding merchandise. A spokesman for the palace said 'We want items that are permanent and significant.' The Official Royal Wedding China is tastefully designed and features William & Catherine's initials entwined in gold and silver, with hearts, doves and ribbons. Profits from the sale of the official china collection will go towards the upkeep and public exhibitions of the Queen's Art Collection.

The Official Royal Wedding China also now has an addition to the collection. A Limited Edition Loving Cup has been created and given the Royal seal of approval by William & Kate themselves. There will only be 1000 of the new two handled loving cup produced and these are sure to become valuable collectors items for years to come. The China Cup has been decorated with doves, ribbons and hearts in Gold Silver and White and is set on a pale grey background, inside the cup are rows of tiny hearts with two white doves holding a gold wedding ring. This latest addition to the Royal Wedding Collection is being produced in a factory in Stoke on Trent where potters have already seen a massive increase in production since the announcement of the Royal Engagement. The Official Royal Wedding potters in Stoke on Trent are putting their traditional skills of gilding, painting and other hand made processes to good use and are busy working more and more hours to keep up with demand for the Royal Wedding China.
