University of Worcester - Study at Worcester Uni and have the time of your life!
It is said that your time as a student is when you have the time of your life so you need to make sure that the Uni you choose to study at offers you the best it can so that you really can enjoy the best days of your life!
Worcester Uni has so much going for it - for starters Worcester is in a central location in the UK making it one of the most easily accessible universities from wherever you currently live. Ok so location may not be top of your list of priorities when considering courses to study at Uni, but think about it... there are advantages for studying at a University with a relatively short commute home, the washing you will need to take home to Mum at the weekend for instance! Joking aside if you are considering applying for a university of Worcester course then there will be plenty you need to know about the City of Worcester and all the advantages of living in such a lovely place.
Worcester University is actually the fastest growing Uni in the Uk - with 100% growth in Worcester uni applications in the last five years - So the secret is out and the word is being spread that Worcester is the place to be!
So what is it like choosing Worcester and becoming a University of Worcester student?
"The past first year of uni life for me has been the best and happiest experience of my life. I've done and experienced so many new things and met some of the most important people in my life now. Worcester is an absolutely wicked place with everything you could ever ask for and the people of Worcester you couldn't ask for any nicer. The night life is amazing! With such a variety and diverse range of places to go out to there is something for everyone. As for the uni, I don't know what to say other than picking Worcester was the best decision of my life! The staff are amazing, the help and support on offer is above and beyond the call of duty. The biggest selling point for the uni is that it has an amazing community feel, especially if you live in halls and that is what made it for me I think as that is how I have made my mates for life!"
Dicky an undergraduate at at Worcs uni
I would have to agree with Dicky about living in University Halls of Residence during your first year. I also made life long friends during my time at Uni and many of those friendships started during our time in Halls. During our second year a group of seven of us from halls went on to share rented accommodation which was a whole new adventure in itself.
For the first time students that have been offered either a conditional or unconditional place at the University of Worcester accommodation places are automatically available in one of their halls of residence. Prices for the halls vary to suit your budget and will also depend if you want to be placed in the St Johns accommodation on campus or in the city centre. If you are going to be living away from home for the first time then living in the Worcester University Halls will be a good stepping stone before having to find other accommodation.
St Johns is the main university of Worcester Campus where the majority of courses and departments are based. In 2010 the second campus for the university known as city campus was opened to house the Worcester business school. It was built on the site of the old Worcester Royal Infirmary. Worcester Uni does not stand still and considering it only received university status back in 2005 it has big plans for the future. One of these plans is for a third campus on a disused piece of land known as Grove Farm. It is said that this plan may not be ready till 2025 so is really irrelevant if you are a student considering applying for Worcester uni this year.
A development that will be of interest to you is the building of the University of Worcester Sports Arena or otherwise known as Worcester Arena. The Worcester Arena is being built on the banks of the River Severn on an area known as Riverside. The development is due to be open and accessible to the community prior to the 2012 Olympics and in time to be an official London 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp . This exciting development will include a 2000 seated indoor Arena and will become the home of Worcester's Professional Basketball team the Worcester Wolves who currently train at the Sports Centre on St John's Campus.
If you are interested in participating in any sort of sport whilst at University then the University of Worcester Sports set up is one of the best. The Sports Centre at the Uni has a six court sports hall, a fitness suite, Astro turf, tennis courts and grass pitches. Joining any of the University of Worcester Sports Clubs will be a guaranteed way to make a fantastic group of friends who you will probably spend as much time socializing with as you do playing sport with!
If sport is not for you then there are also a wide variety of societies available to join where you can meet like minded individuals in whatever your particular interest may be.
The Worcester university student union currently lists these 18 societies for you to get involved in. They are :- African Caribbean Society, Anime and Manga,British Red Cross, Christian Union, Environment and Conservation Society, Film Society, Geography Society, History Society, Literature Society, Loco Show Co., Psychology society Raise and give Society, St John Ambulance, Singing Society, Spotlight Theatre Society, Sunday Sport Society, The Voice Society and Worcester Ideas Network society.

Well we have already heard from Dicky above that "The night life is amazing!" but lets see what a few other students have said.
Fenn said "Worcester is good for night life - lots of pubs and clubs and Thursday is student's night for a cheaper night out."
Satenya said "There are plenty of clubs and places to go in the city of worcester, and the SU is always very busy. The city life is always alive, and so is uni life as you can go to the SU and see whats happening on that night, or you could go out clubbing in the town. The best club in Worcester city is Tramps as it's always very popular and always a great laugh."
