If you think of University and think of rowing you will probably straight away think of Oxford and Cambridge. All though these Universities have a long history of rowing it is not just for the elite few who study there. Worcester is a University situated by the River Severn and since 2004 when this club was founded it has gone from strength to strength . In 2010 The Worcester University Rowing Club was awarded the union best club of the year after it became three times world record holders. The world record attempts by the club raised £1000 in sponsorship for the Worcester Snoezelen charity. The Club also organised its first regatta in January in the hope that it will become an annual event. The regatta was organised to help raise funds for the Worcester Arena Campaign and was an ambitious undertaking by the students and members of the Rowing Club. The medieval Japanese martial art of Jui Jitsu has been popular at the university since it was founded back in 1990 by Sensei Paul Coward. Students that have studied Jitsu have found it to increase their confidence and improve their self esteem
Worcester University American football team are called the Worcester Royals . This is a relatively new sport at the university but one that is likely to grow in popularity quite quickly. The Boxing society at Worcester University offers something for everyone. This club is not just for hard core boxers but also for those that wish to box just for fitness. Ladies can also join the boxing society... no pressure but the University currently has the Womens British Universities Champion as a member of the club.
The University of Worcester Canoe and KayaK society was only formed a couple of years ago but is still keen to enter any competitions that they can. With the University so close to the River Severn both canoeing and kayaking are popular past times especially in the summer when students can spend lazy days enjoying the sunshine and paddling down stream or participating in other water sports in Worcester

The University of Worcester Climbing and Mountaineering club is open to any students wishing to join regardless of experience. Many of the 2nd and 3rd year students involved with this club also teach at outdoor centres around the Uk and are therefore more than capable of showing any newbees the ropes so to speak! This club regularly organises trips a way or weekend climbs.
The University of Worcester Cycling club is open to all cyclists regardless of your preference for on or off road cycling. The cycling club regularly enters competitions for keen cyclists as well as a number of cycling team events. Cyclists from the University will be heading to Amsterdam in May on a 450 mile cycle from Worcester to Amsterdam to raise money for the Worcester snoezelene independent charity.
The University of Worcester Dance society is always a well attended and popular club to join. Womens football is fast becoming a popular sport across the UK and it is no different at Worcester Uni. The University of Worcester Ladies football club boasts a first and second team that play matches against other uk universities in the BUCS leagues. The Ladies football second team went undefeated in their leauge last year and as a result were awarded the title of Worcester Students union sports team of the year.
The University of Worcester Football Club is one of the most popular clubs at the uni. With full use of a flood lit new all-weather 3rd Generation Astroturf pitch, numerous playing fields and access to indoor courts the Sports centre, Worcester uni is home to five football teams competing in the BUCs league and another team that play locally on Saturdays in the Worcester & District League.
If Hockey is your game then this lively club is the one for you. The University of Worcester Hockey Club not only competes in the BUCS league but also enjoys the reputation for having a good social life to go with it.
If you are going to be a fresher at Worcester uni next year then watch out for the guys from the university of Worcester Hockey club! They will be looking to sign up new members as they have recently entered a second team in the BUCS league and they are keen to expand the club.
We were all forced to play netball at school when we were younger but you may be surprised to find that Netball at University is far more enjoyable. So much so that the university of Worcester netball club is the largest all female club that you can join. They have four teams that play regularly and competitively in the BUCS leagues.
The University of Worcester Ladies Rugby Union Club are on the look out for new members so be warned! After winning their Varsity fixture last year the girls are keen to build on their success and will be looking for new blood to help take them to the next level.
The University of Worcester Rugby Union Club is lucky to have strong links with the local Worcester Warriors Rugby team that train and play at the Sixways Stadium in Worcester. This Club is highly competitive and all the lads in the club are totally committed to their sport

The University of Worcester Swimming Club trains once a week despite there being no swimming pool on campus and regularly competes in the BUCS league. The club swims at the Kings pool in Worcester ( near to the Cathedral)

Trampolining Club
The University of Worcester Trampolining club is all about fun! With an annual trip each year to Ireland to compete in the Irish Students trampolining open (ISTO) the Worcester students compete in both the individual and synchro competitions. The club also teamed up with the worcester uni badminto club to organise a 24hr bounce and batting marathon to raise money for new equipment for the club and for the County Air Ambulance

Play indoors during the Winter and then move outside or hit the beach for a spot of beach volleyball come the summer. It is also a mixed sex sport which means that it will also become a very sociable club to join.
