Kleve

Twinned with Worcester since 1987, Kleve has now become an important international link with our city with many friendships and contacts having been made through the yearly exchange visits that take place.

Kleve, with a population of 50,000, is an important County town in the North West of Germany in the area between the Rhine and the Dutch border. Situated on the only hill for many miles around, Kleve is visible from every direction.

In the lower Rhine area there are several pleasant towns and impressive Roman remains. Dusseldorf is near and just over the border are the towns of Arnhem, Nijmejen, Amsterdam and Giethoorn -The little Dutch Venice. Kleve is bicycle country with a wealth of paths and on an historical note Kleve is linked with Anne of Cleeves who became a wife of Henry VIII.        For more info go to  www.kleve.de/

Le Vesinet

Le Vesinet in France has been twinned with Worcester for 15 years (since 1994).

Le Vesinet, with a population of around 17,000, is on the South-Western outskirts of Paris and is a delightful garden suburb with many trees and lakes as well as a thriving market and shopping centre.

A short distance from Le Vesinet is Chatou, home of the Impressionists and under an hour's drive is Giverny and the famous Monet garden.

Worcester M.A.   U.S.A

As long ago as 1945 a silver chalice dating from 1571 was presented to All Saints Church, Worcester, Mass. by Worcester, England as an expression of gratitude for wartime assistance.

It is only since 1999 though that the two Worcesters have been officially linked. Regular exchange visits have take place between various organisations of the two cities and many friendships have developed through these exchanges.

Situated in New England with a population of approximately 169,000 and just 45 miles from the historic town of Boston, Worcester is both a commercial and industrial centre.

The city is endowed with five museums and art collections in addition to a world class concert hall. Worcester is also known as the "City of Seven Hills" surrounded as it is by seven hills and lovely countryside. The best time for New England is, of course, "The Fall" to be amazed by the multi-coloured autumn leaves everywhere. For more info go to www.worcester.ma.us/

Worcester Twinning Association

Membership of the Twinning Association is open to anyone interested in improving international relations.

Members may benefit from regular newsletters, social activities, and the opportunity to travel abroad and make lasting friendships by exchange visits to our twin towns.

The Twinning Association would also like to make contact with possible host families in the Worcester Area. This is another great way to make friends with people from different countries.http://www.worcester-international-link.org.uk/
